What it detects

This rule detects service creation referencing the rwdrv.sys or hlpdrv.sys vulnerable drivers used in a bring-your-own-vulnerable-driver attack. Akira affiliates loaded these drivers to disable endpoint protection before encryption. Registering a known vulnerable driver as a service enables kernel-level defense tampering.
