What it detects

This rule detects chmod granting execute permission to shell scripts in /tmp followed by their execution through bash on a SonicWall SMA1000 appliance. This behavior was observed during in-the-wild exploitation of the CVE-2026-15409 and CVE-2026-15410 path traversal zero days where the actor staged post-exploitation payloads. Detecting it surfaces hands-on-keyboard code execution on an internet-facing appliance where interactive shell activity is otherwise abnormal.
