What it detects
This rule flags process executions of regedit.exe where the command line includes imports of a registry file (e.g., /i, /s, and a .reg argument). Attackers can use this behavior to quickly modify registry settings for persistence or defense impairment by importing keys in an automated way. The detection relies on Windows process creation telemetry, including Image/OriginalFileName and command-line arguments, and excludes matches containing specific flag combinations used to reduce overlaps.
Reporting behind it
Detection content is published as a reviewed draft. Tune thresholds and exclusions against your own telemetry before enabling this rule for alerting.
